Calmex for Cats

Certain cats are susceptible to the development of behavioural and medical disorders in response to stressors present in their environment. A multimodal approach is often required for management of these problems.

Calmex for Cats

Signs of fear or anxiety in cats
  • Inappropriate toileting
  • Excessive vertical or horizontal scratching of surfaces
  • Aggression
  • Over grooming
  • Self mutilation
  • Hiding or withdrawn behaviour
  • Clingy or needy behaviour
  • Changes in appetite
  • Constantly monitoring surroundings

Causes of fear and anxiety in cats
  • Modern living- Cats being kept indoors lack control over their environment, which can cause problems. Overpopulation of cats in urban areas can cause stress and bullying due to territorial issues.
  • Multi-cat households- When cats are kept together in homes, they are forced to develop relationships, even if socially incompatible. This can lead to the development of stress.
  • Lack of socialisation- Rehomed feral cats, cats from rescue centres or cats not socialised may experience anxiety and nervousness.
  • Boarding & kennelling- Cats find boarding and kenneling in catteries or veterinary hospitals particularly stressful.
