Metacam® Oral Suspension for Cats is the most popular medicine used by vets to treat arthritis in cats.

It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is prescribed to reduce pain and inflammation and is prescribed most commonly to treat arthritis, injuries or painful tumours. Metacam® is also available as an injection, and can be used around the time of surgery to help manage the associated pain. It plays a vital role in improving quality and enjoyment of life of cats with arthritis and is a very safe drug as long it is used with care.

Doseage: Your veterinarian will determine the correct daily dose of Metacam for your cat.

Application: Most cats love the honey flavoured Metacam® Oral Suspension which can be added to food or given directly to your cat, making it very easy to administer. The suspension can be given using the drop dispenser of the bottle for cats of any body weight. Alternatively and for cats with a body weight of at least 2 kg, the measuring syringe provided in the package can be used.

Active Constituents: Each ml contains 0.5mg meloxicam as the active ingredient (equivalent to 0.017mg per drop) and 1.5mg sodium benzoate (equivalent to 0.05mg per drop).

Safety: Particular care should be taken with regard to the accuracy of dosing. The recommended dose should not be exceeded. Avoid introduction of contamination during use. Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals. Do not use in animals suffering from gastro-intestinal disorders such as irritation and haemorrhage, impaired hepatic, cardiac or renal function and haemorrhagic disorders. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Do not use in cats less than 6 weeks of age.
